Immerse yourself in land conversation measures among the vast Colorado wilderness.

Operating on 103,000 acres, Zapata Ranch, a Leader Member of Regenerative Resorts, is a working bison and cattle ranch managed by Ranchlands and owned by The Nature Conservatory. Adjacent to the Great Sand Dunes National Park and situated among meadows, wetlands, and cottonwood groves, Zapata invites guests to explore the working ranch among a diverse landscape. Whether seeking to venture out into the vast Colorado wilderness or looking to contribute and integrate oneself into the daily operations of the ranch, guests have a plethora of activities to chose from and take part in at Zapata.

Horseback riding is central to many of the guest experiences at Zapata, but tailor made stays are curated for each reservation and can include anything from bird watching and hiking to fly fishing and white water rafting. By staying at Zapata, land conservation efforts, such as planned grazing, are supported, as are the approximately 2,000 free-roaming wild bison and 300 cattle on the property. Zapata offers those who retreat to its property a chance to witness firsthand the importance of economic diversification and its inextricable link to responsible conservation.
