African Bush Camps - Khwai Leadwood

Notice how adventure can meet serenity at this beautiful bush camp in Botswana

Nestled close to the edge of the Khwai River, the beautiful Khwai Leadwood sits calmly beneath a canopy of bush trees. With the river being all that separates this luxurious camp from the iconic Moremi Game Reserve, live out your safari fantasy by watching hippos and elephants maneuver the water as you sip your morning coffee.

An exceptional experience for the most travelled safari veterans and children alike, Khwai Leadwood is the ideal destination for families, couples and solo travellers looking for a holistically African adventure. With six elegantly styled tents and one family unit, the camp bridges the gap between luxury accommodation and feeling like you’re in the great outdoors.

Part of the African Bush Camps collective, Khwai Leadwood is set within the Okavango Delta’s community-run Khwai Concession and was founded upon ABC’s values of “sharing and conserving Africa together”.

Regenerative Impact

As part of the African Bush Camps’ collective, Khwai Leadwood was founded on the mission to share and conserve Africa together.

20
Khwai Leadwood makes every effort to employ local staff from surrounding communities while offering internship programmes to employ local youth. They have also recently launched a “female guide programme” which attempts to recruit and empower more female figures in the communities to join their conservation efforts.
From village tours to traditional nights, guests are offered the opportunity to learn how to weave baskets and taste traditional “boma” and food. Staff are also encouraged to share stories about their culture and beliefs while celebrating their local song and dance for an evening with guests.
Founded by Beks Ndlovu, who started his journey as a professional safari guide 15 years ago, Khwai Leadwood aspires to conserve the land and empower the people of Africa. In particular, the establishment of the African Bush Camps Foundation, a non-profit focused on conservation, education and empowerment in the communities near the company’s camps, enables both Khwai Leadwood and beyond to support rural communities located in the most vulnerable wildlife areas in Botswana, Zimbabwe and Zambia.
Khwai Leadwood is designed to blend into its incredibly wild natural environment. All efforts were made to source local building materials during the construction phase, while the camp displays local artworks and Tswana artefacts throughout each tent.

Pioneering in Pokhara, Nepal: The Story of Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge

Historically a commercial hub connecting India and Tibet, Pokhara evolved to be a metropolitan city with far more to offer than just trade. Tucked into the Himalayas and sitting on the picturesque Phewa Lake, Pokhara let nature lead the way. The name for Nepal’s second largest city comes from the Nepali word “Pokhari” meaning “pond” so it’s no surprise that natural formations are Pokhara’s greatest protagonist.

Key Lessons from 3 Caribbean Hotels Leading the Way in Regenerative Practices

We explore leading examples of regenerative tourism practices being implemented by three Caribbean hotels such as Hamanasi Resort in Belize, Jade Mountain in Saint Lucia and Rockhouse Hotel in Jamaica at our panel discussion hosted by Davines in Brooklyn, New York. These organizations are not only adopting regenerative practices, but they are also helping to educate people on the importance of sustainability and creating programs to put regulations in place.
