Discover the serenity and mesmerizing landscapes along St. Lucia’s south-western coastline

As St. Lucia’s only resort property with the iconic view of both the Piti and Gros Piton mountains, the iconic Jade Mountain resort is a celebration of scenic beauty and organic architecture. Designed by architect Nick Troubetzkoy, the resort was inspired by the philosophy of building in harmony with Caribbean nature, featuring rugged stone-faced columns, individual bridges and infinity pool sanctuaries (suites) that peak over the island’s majestic coastline.

Since opening in 2006, after the construction with a 100% St Lucian team was complete, Jade Mountain has either made all furniture and furnishings locally, with local labor, or purchased them from local businesses. With a strong focus on keeping as much of their economic benefits in the region as possible, Jade Mountain and her sister property employ 500+ local team members, making them one of the most important employers in the south west region of the island.

From making their water supply independent from the community of Soufriere to the famous 3-walled design of all the sanctuaries which allows for natural ventilation, to sourcing their ingredients as locally as possible, Jade Mountain takes every step towards sustainability that they can to protect their surrounding environment while educating guests about the culture, history and ecology of the local region. Co-founder Karolin Troubetzkoy has worked tirelessly in promoting a transition to more sustainable tourism models through founding/ acting as chairwoman/president of multiple hospitality and conservation associations in the Caribbean and has been instrumental in creating change in the region.

Regenerative Impact

Jade Mountain was founded upon the philosophy of being built in harmony with Caribbean nature while providing major economic opportunities for the town’s locals. Its founders, Nick & Karolin Troubetzkoy have worked tirelessly to promote a transition to sustainable tourism and conservation models across the Caribbean

Jade Mountain took great effort to make their water supply independent from Soufriere so as not to burden the local community. Having restored the 1.5 million gallon reservoir in the Anse Mamin valley, Jade Mountain now uses this space as a catchment for both rain and river water while using their fresh water treatment station to directly supply their resort.
Beyond developing the strategy which saw Jade Mountain become the world-renowned positive-impact operation that it is Co-founder, Karolin Troubetzkoy has worked tirelessly in promoting a transition to more sustainable tourism models in the Caribbean through founding/ acting as chairwoman/president of multiple hospitality and conservation associations and has been instrumental in creating change in the region.
Architect & Co-founder Nick Troubetzkoy expanded upon his philosophy of building in harmony with Caribbean nature to create Jade Mountain in St. Lucia. The bold architectural design – individual bridges leading to exceptional infinity pool sanctuaries and rugged stoned-faced columns reaching towards the sky – honors local landscapes and sits harmoniously on its horizons. All this was executed by a 100% Saint Lucian construction team, a rare occurrence in the Caribbean region, with Jade Mountain up-skilling locals leading to enhanced, sustainable, future employment opportunities.
From being constructed out of locally sourced materials to employing over 500 local people, Jade Mountain employs a 99% local workforce with the majority of the resorts’ gross revenues remaining in the local region.
Aside from supporting local education, Karolin Troubetzkoy, the Co-founder & Executive Director of Marketing and Operations, has been instrumental in working closely with local artists and craftsmen to develop attractive artwork and crafts for sale in the resort boutiques.

Pioneering in Pokhara, Nepal: The Story of Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge

Historically a commercial hub connecting India and Tibet, Pokhara evolved to be a metropolitan city with far more to offer than just trade. Tucked into the Himalayas and sitting on the picturesque Phewa Lake, Pokhara let nature lead the way. The name for Nepal’s second largest city comes from the Nepali word “Pokhari” meaning “pond” so it’s no surprise that natural formations are Pokhara’s greatest protagonist.

Key Lessons from 3 Caribbean Hotels Leading the Way in Regenerative Practices

We explore leading examples of regenerative tourism practices being implemented by three Caribbean hotels such as Hamanasi Resort in Belize, Jade Mountain in Saint Lucia and Rockhouse Hotel in Jamaica at our panel discussion hosted by Davines in Brooklyn, New York. These organizations are not only adopting regenerative practices, but they are also helping to educate people on the importance of sustainability and creating programs to put regulations in place.
