1. Hamanasi ResortHopkins, Belize

Hamanasi brings the best of Belize beach together with the remarkable landscape of Maya Mountains. Set on the glassy Caribbean sea, the resort offers an abundance of opportunities to get acquainted with life below sea level, from the in-house PADI certified diving school to snorkelling the South Water Caye Marine Reserve and a chance to fish with the locals. Back on land, Hamanasi offers an opportunity to experience the world’s only Jaguar Preserve along with other native species at a local wildlife reserve. Heading inland, you’ll find the curious ancient architecture of the Mayans where you can fully get to grips with the fascinating cultural heritage of the area.

Few natural landscapes compare to the unique corner of Newfoundland, Canada where you’ll find the Fogo Island Inn. This remote outreach in the North Atlantic Coast to fully embrace the unique climate and ecosystem. Choose to take to the landscape in snowshoes or watch caribou meander around the island. The Inn also offers opportunities to experience Fogo Islander life with boat building workshops and educational sessions with the Geologist in Residence who can enlighten you on the biodiverse ecosystem. Venturing a little further from the Inn, you can also choose from an abundance of hiking trails to fully experience the island on foot. 

3. Las Flores Surf ClubEl Cuco, El Salvador

Set on 7 acres of black sand beach, La Flores is a tropical haven for surfers and non-surfers alike. True beach bums can get stoked on the world-class 300 metre long La Flores break and the surf club also offers beginners lessons if you fancy picking up a new skill in one of the most opportune places possible. Taking the adrenaline down a notch, you can also opt for a kayaking adventure in the mangrove swamps of San Dionisio’s Island. If altitude is your bag then take the opportunity to hike Conchagua Volcano, with an elevation of 1,225 metres and home to vibrant birdlife, mammals and stunning views at the summit.

4. Bentwood Inn Jackson Hole, Wyoming

You’ll find the Bentwood Inn nestled at the foot of Wyoming’s Grand Teton Mountains and all the classic adventure experiences you could wish for. Seasoned skiers will be familiar with nearby Jackson Hole Mountain Resort for a chance to hit the slopes and the Grand Tetons provide ample hiking routes if you’d rather take to the mountains on foot. A calmer side of the adventure offerings includes fishing for Cuttroat trout in the Snake River or joining a guided wildlife tour. Upping the adrenaline, you can throw yourself into 40 miles of mountain biking trails, climb your way up to some truly spectacular rock climbing routes or hop on a snowmobile to speed up your exploration.

5. Zapata RanchMosca, Colorado

Zapata Ranch is one of few destinations to offer a true working Colorado ranch experience on an immense 103,000 acres of wilderness and immaculate terrain. Immerse yourself in the local landscape on foot with a nature hike to truly embrace the diversity of Zapata. The ranch also offers lively ranch hand experiences and wildlife encounters to get you fully acquainted with life in the area and you might well spot native coyotes, owls, bison, elk or cranes among other creatures. A little further afield, you can also trek the spectacular Great Sand Dunes National Park and marvel at their sheer scale.
