1. Hamanasi Resort – Hopkins, Belize
Hamanasi brings the best of Belize beach together with the remarkable landscape of Maya Mountains. Set on the glassy Caribbean sea, the resort offers an abundance of opportunities to get acquainted with life below sea level, from the in-house PADI certified diving school to snorkelling the South Water Caye Marine Reserve and a chance to fish with the locals. Back on land, Hamanasi offers an opportunity to experience the world’s only Jaguar Preserve along with other native species at a local wildlife reserve. Set on 7 acres of black sand beach, La Flores is a tropical haven for surfers and non-surfers alike. True beach bums can get stoked on the world-class 300 metre long La Flores break and the surf club also offers beginners lessons if you fancy picking up a new skill in one of the most opportune places possible. Taking the adrenaline down a notch, you can also opt for a kayaking adventure in the mangrove swamps of San Dionisio’s Island. If altitude is your bag then take the opportunity to hike Conchagua Volcano, with an elevation of 1,225 metres and home to vibrant birdlife, mammals and stunning views at the summit.
4. Bentwood Inn – Jackson Hole, Wyoming
You’ll find the Bentwood Inn nestled at the foot of Wyoming’s Grand Teton Mountains and all the classic adventure experiences you could wish for. Seasoned skiers will be familiar with nearby Jackson Hole Mountain Resort for a chance to hit the slopes and the Grand Tetons provide ample hiking routes if you’d rather take to the mountains on foot. A calmer side of the adventure offerings includes fishing for Cuttroat trout in the Snake River or joining a guided wildlife tour.
