Founded by Beks Ndlovu, who began his career as a professional safari guide before establishing a collective of luxury safari camps across Zimbabwe, Zambia and Botswana, African Bush Camps was created out of a passion for preserving remote lands and empowering the communities that inhabit them.

Khwai Leadwood is an excellent example of how African Bushcamps are striving to showcase and conserve the African wilderness, designed to leave minimal impact on the environment while the collective’s own foundation works passionately to protect local wildlife. From establishing anti-poaching units and providing meat supplies to vulnerable communities to raising awareness about the importance of Africa’s biodiversity, African Bush Camps is a shining example of conservation and regeneration in action.

With a mission to conserve vast areas of pristine wilderness and create sustainable employment opportunities for Zimbabweans, Matetsi Victoria Falls is a site for regeneration. Designed to showcase everything exceptional about their destination, Matetsi set out on their conservation journey well before opening their lodge, laying out six years of conservation work that could rehabilitate the land, protect the wildlife and create a welcoming habitat for Africa’s most iconic species.

Prior to establishing their magnificent Private Game Reserve, Matetsi’s land had been decimated by poaching and illegal hunting, yet six years of tireless rewilding and conservation efforts have now enabled the team to protect 136,000 acres of wilderness, safeguard 9 miles of river frontage and donate 4 vehicles to anti-poaching initiatives. Home to more than 400 bird and mammal species today, Matetsi remains a magnificent place to discover Zimbabwe’s landscapes and biodiversity while vacationing with a lodge committed to restoring our natural world.
